Patricia Calamari
My art has always been an extension of the appreciation I have for the beauty in everyday life. Inspiration comes to me in such surprising ways. It’s like being swept away to a dream with an overwhelming need to paint. In recent years I have discovered writing and found that words come to me in exactly the same way. I see the scenario play out in my head and I need to write it down.
The upbringing I had in Throg’s Neck in the Bronx, conjures up memories of joy, including those with my cousins, who are, and always have been like sisters to me. Our coming of age in an Italian family during the late 70’s is what I believe created the visuals for this collaboration, “COUSINS CALABAZZI”.
