Barbara Calamari

As a writer I love to collaborate on projects in a wide range of subject matter. I have worked in children’s animation, on TV and movie scripts, and I have also written books in the art and spiritual field.

“Cousins Calabazzi” is a project that evolved over several years. Written with my sister Kathleen and my cousin Patricia, it begins in 1977 with the backdrop of the burning Bronx, the Son of Sam serial Killer and a supervised tour of the old country that goes completely off the rails. By chronicling the life of two cousins over a period of 40 years we were able to resurrect long forgotten characters both in gossip columns and at the Sunday dinner table as well as wild adventures true and invented, incorporating much of the chaos that life throws at you in the span of a lifetime.

Like the cousins in our book, we were best friends from birth and have seen each other through difficult and joyful times. Though not all published writers, we are all natural storytellers. This is our first novel.
